The Problem
As Director of Content at TMP, I led and rebuilt a growing—but fragmented—content team supporting employer brand and recruitment marketing efforts. Within a year, I transformed a team of writers into a scalable, editorially sound, cross-functional unit that supported Fortune 500 clients across verticals.
The Approach
I joined TMP as a digital strategist serving accounts such as P&G and Walgreens. In January 2017, I took over the companywide content team.
Strategic Development
- Refocused the company’s content offering to prioritize data-informed, scalable and tactical strategies
- Overhauled client approaches to emphasize foundational implementation and performance alignment
- Partnered with client service teams to reshape deliverables for stronger marketing outcomes
Process Development & Delivery Rigor
- Instituted department-wide protocols to streamline delivery and reduce inconsistencies
- Created reusable editorial templates and execution frameworks that addressed ongoing workflow challenges
- Defined content formats and delivery structures that improved speed, quality and clarity across global teams
- Supported a wide range of campaign types, from EVP development and content audits to evergreen content systems
Team Training & Talent Development
- Rebuilt and stabilized a 20+ person team of content writers and strategists within my first 12 months
- Implemented a formal training program that significantly shortened onboarding time for new team members
- Created clear growth pathways and editorial review structures that enabled advancement and role clarity
- Fostered a performance-driven, supportive team culture with an emphasis on collaboration and craft
Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Served as strategic partner to internal teams and account leaders across client portfolios
- Helped redefine the client experience by bringing delivery consistency and strategic guidance to every engagement
- Elevated the visibility of content strategy within the agency and among external stakeholders
What We Built
- A five-week onboarding plan that took new hires to full client ownership.
- A mentor program, monthly subject-matter trainings and quarterly team offsites.
- Reusable editorial templates and the 4 Rs, a framework for getting more from every piece: refine, reshare, repurpose and refresh.
- A new direction for the offering: strategy, playbooks and client self-service in place of routine posting and monitoring.
