That’s right kidlets! Another WIP OTK. And I’m so excited. I had so many problems with the Eyelet Swirls Scarf. Some my fault and some just pure stupid luck. I messed up a few times (p2tog tbl was forgotten and dismissed creating ugly twisted slanty stitches that didn’t work. Here we go: let’s frog a few rows). Then, of course, blindly knitting along (pattern observed religiously) I switched colors too soon (I was doing each color in two sets of the pattern). I thought, “Yeah, let’s see if this looks OK after awhile.” Nope. It didn’t. Rip, rip, rip. Finally, I’m focused, I’m knitting. Pattern is fine. Color changing is fine. Home stretch.
Uh oh, what’s this? We’re running out of yarn? I can’t finish a whole two sets of the pattern with the last purple section. OK. Umm, what about splicing the yarn? After many failed attempts using this 75% extra fine merino, 20% silk and 5% cashmere blended yarn, I realize I’ve just wasted about two hours on nothing. Yarn is breaking apart, ends are showing. I can’t even knit a row. Bah! OK, so plan B. Just start the gray and I’m only four rows shy, it should look fine. Voila! It does. No biggie. So here I go a truckin’ along with the gray. Knit, knit, knit. Oh crap, running out of gray. NOOOOOOO! So I ended sooner than I should’ve. Fortunately each row isn’t altogether too thick but to a trained knitter’s eye, they’d see my fudging. However, in my defense, the yarn was mucho expensivo and I wasn’t about to buy two more skeins that I wouldn’t fully use either. I love the “tuck in” flavor of this scarf too. It’s so soft and supple and smooth on the skin. It makes my faux pas seem all the more worth it.
In other news, I think I found a place I want to live in the city. It’s a condo for rent with hardwood floors, dishwasher, washer/dryer in unit, nice and roomy, lots of closets and a back door with screen for Ethan to look out of. I put in my application right then and will hear back from the renter by Monday. I hope it works out. It’s a little far from the train but a small sacrifice for a secure building with a little backyard. So any good thoughts you can send my way, I would appreciate. PRAY PRAY PRAY to the Spirits that be. 🙂
Thanks, your support is much appreciated.
