OK, not to destroy everyone’s deep-rooted beliefs in “predicting” when spring will arrive, but what were our forefathers thinking when they though a groundhog was the answer to all our problems? Now, I’m not dissing on Punxutawney Phil. He’s a cute littler fella and all—and he makes an adorable face—but there’s no way he knows anything about spring. He’s a rodent people!
Oh yes, Groundhog Day 2007 has come and gone, and we as an intelligent superpower of the world turned to this nine pound furry creature for wisdom. And the newscasters are continuing the process by overly covering the story each year. There has got to be something else to report.
I know nothing I say or do will change people’s feelings, but at least you got a cute picture of Phil out of the deal. Happy trails!
Editor’s Note: The movie Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, was pretty hilarious and should be the only ritual practiced on the second day of the second month of the year.
