Today is the first day of my 5-week detox program courtesy of Whole Living | Body + Soul. The whole point is to target a variety of areas in your life and detoxify them, including your diet, fitness, stress and energy. The hardest part is going to be the caffeine withdrawal, and maybe the dietary changes the first week. Otherwise I think that this should go really well.
As the week progresses, I am supposed to do a media fast (ie, minimize my web surfing, tv watching, etc.). That’ll also be difficult. I will continue to blog though, to track my progress and all that jazz.
Today I have three goals: Scale back on caffeine and sugar, drink lots of water, scale back baked goods and sweets; stock up on supplies for the week; and reflect about my diet.
Scale back: I reduced my caffeine but probably didn’t scale back the baked goods and sweets as much as I should have. I actually missed the baked goods line anyways, so I didn’t even realize I was supposed to. Tomorrow I will scale even more.
Get organized: As far as getting organized, I’ll be using whatever food I have in the cupboards. I should be mostly OK.
Reflect: I think my diet is pretty OK. Some things I need to watch include caffeine intake (I usually get a cup of coffee and occassionally have a can of Coke, but not every day). I also have a pretty strong sweet tooth, so I get cravings for something sweet, usually after a meal. I might be a little high on carbs, and I’d like to eat more vegetables and fruits each day.
